Pride Live has led the effort to secure the lease at 51 Christopher and transform the space into the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center (SNMVC).
Pride Live has engaged representatives from the National Park Service (NPS), National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA), community leaders, architects, and attorneys who have provided pro bono services.
The mission of the SNMVC is to preserve, advance, and celebrate the legacy of the Stonewall Rebellion. The SNMVC will serve as a beacon for generations to come, by providing the unique opportunity to visit the very site where history was made, and the fight for full LGBTQ+ equality began.
The SNMVC will serve as an educational resource and a living and breathing experience that speaks to today’s generations, encouraging them to carry forward the Stonewall legacy and the fight for full LGBTQ+ equality. It will be a transformational experience to all who visit.
COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
There are several plans we will enact to ensure success beyond sustainability:
In addition to creating the SNMVC, we will be reuniting the Stonewall Inn. How many conversations detailing our fight for full equality begin with a reference to June 28, 1969? This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play an active role in that legacy.
The SNMVC is also a historic opportunity for individual donors, brands, and foundations to actively support the Stonewall legacy. Our three tenets of this campaign are Acquisition, Engagement, and Awareness.
EDUCATION & VISITOR CENTER
Via the actual design, and partnerships with the NPCA, NPS, NYC LGBT Historic Sites Project, and others the SNMVC will become a go-to destination for information about the Stonewall legacy and how to take action to continue it.
At the core, the SNMVC will serve as the official Visitor Center for the Stonewall National Monument. Our existing partnerships with the NPS and NPCA will ensure that we are identified as such and support our marketing and outreach to supporters of National Parks and Monuments.
Pride Live will leverage its existing relationship with NYC & Co and will partner with them to promote SNMVC nationally and globally as a must-visit LGBTQ+ site.
